This was a short week, but it was packed full in the ELA classroom! We are working on figurative language, though we are nearing the end. This week we reviewed hyperbole and personification, and we added idioms and adages/proverbs to our interactive notebooks. Students showed they comprehended the information by working through task cards on their desk top whiteboards. They enjoy the chance to use whiteboards and to demonstrate their understanding, and it is an easy way for me to assess learning.
Next week we will work with synonyms and antonyms, alliteration, and onomatopoeia. That will finish up our unit on figurative language. We will plan to have a scrimmage next Thursday over all figurative language.
Thank you to so many of you for continuing to donate supplies to my classroom! I purchased a set of mini whiteboards and could definitely still use clean socks for erasers (or miniature erasers that are sold on Amazon fairly cheaply) as well as the finer point white board markers in black. We use these a lot, so the markers that came with the boards I purchased will run out of ink quickly!
I'm looking forward to Fall Fest tomorrow! I'll be manning the bounce houses if you want to stop by and say hello!
